Make plans to get back with DKG in 2012!
We would love for 2012 to be your year in DKG. As co-host for the state convention in June, we need everyone's help in making it a success. Make plans to attend our January meeting, January 17, at Luby's, and hear about our prospective members. Remember that membership requirements changed, so any woman who has taught for any number of years may be invited to join, even those who are retired are now eligible for membership. We're making a name for Iota Omicron at the state level, and we want you on board!
The January meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Luby's in the back banquet area. The food is usually ready between 5:00-5:15, and our meeting begins at 6:00. This month, our program will highlight the Children's Miracle Network, which provides state-of-the-art equipment to treat babies and children at United Regional Healthcare System.

This helps cover expenses for members to attend Convention, and since we want more of our members to attend, we're going to keep selling badges! Looking forward to 2012 Convention!
Areas 10 and 16 (our area) are hosting the 2012 Alpha State Convention in Las Colinas June 21-23, 2012. Everyone's help is needed to make this a success! Mandy Story is the Wichita Falls representative on the Steering Committee, so if you are willing to help in any way, please let her know so that she can get your name to the committee planners. We need a big turnout from Iota Omicron, so save the date!
Important Membership ChangesAt the International Convention in Spokane, members voted on several proposed revisions to the Consitution. One of the biggest changes approved is regarding membership. The revised membership requirements now say this:
Article III Section B 1 now states "An active member shall be a woman who is employed as a professional educator or who has been retired from an educational position." This means that the chapter decides on any restrictions on time of service. Women are eligible during their first year of service AND ANY year of retirement. (statement taken from the Alpha State website). Please go to our links section and click on Alpha State or International websites for more information. |
